How the public message form works
Understand what submitters see after scanning a public message QR code.
Overview
The public message form lets someone contact you about a specific asset without creating an account or downloading an app. It is designed for people who notice something you should know but do not manage the asset record themselves.
What submitters see
After scanning the public message QR code, the submitter sees a form tied to that asset. They choose what kind of message they are sending, set urgency, describe what happened, and provide their name plus an email address or phone number so you can follow up.
If attachment uploads are enabled, they can also include images or PDFs.
Message types
The form supports these message types:
- Maintenance issue - Something needs repair, service, or attention.
- Incident or accident - Something happened that should be reviewed or documented.
- Feedback or review - Someone wants to share an experience, comment, or suggestion.
These categories help your Inbox show the submission with useful context.
Who should use it
Public message forms are useful for tenants, guests, contractors, family members, drivers, residents, and other people who are near the asset but do not need full iMaintain access.
