Regenerate or disable a QR code
Replace or turn off a QR code when labels need to be controlled.
Overview
Regenerate and Disable are control actions for QR labels. Use them when a printed label, saved link, or public form should no longer work as-is.
Regenerate a QR code
Use Regenerate when you want to replace the current QR code with a new one.
Common reasons:
- A label was printed incorrectly.
- A QR code may have been shared too widely.
- A public form link should be rotated.
- You want to replace old physical labels with new ones.
After regeneration, old printed codes and saved links stop working. Print and place the new label wherever it is needed, and remove old physical labels when you can.
Disable a QR code
Use Disable when you want to turn off the current QR code without immediately creating a replacement.
Common reasons:
- The asset is inactive or removed.
- A public form should stop accepting messages.
- A printed label was removed from service.
- You need to pause access while reviewing where a code was placed.
Choose the right action
Choose Regenerate when you still want the QR workflow active but need a new code. Choose Disable when the QR workflow should stop.
Why it matters
QR codes are useful because they are easy to scan and share. Regenerate and Disable give you control when a code needs to be rotated, retired, or removed from service.
